This is Todd Tracy with the Tracy Law Firm in Dallas Texas with another Todd Talk. Today I want to talk with you about recalls. The sad part about recalls is the fact that we’ve been so inundated with recalls in the past ten years that people just become immune to them. When you get the information in the mail, you don’t pay attention to it because they have recalls on the windshield wipers, they’ll have a recall on a tag on a vehicle.
But, the recall system needs to be coordinated based upon what is the severity of the potential injury or what is the severity of a fatality that’s occurring. We don’t need to be recalling for every minor incident out there. We need to recall for vehicle defects, they’re going to kill people or seriously injure people.
Another problem with our recall system is the fact that it only applies to the original owner. If you buy a vehicle pre-owned, you’ll never going to get the first-hand recall letter. You’re going to have to rely upon the manufacturer running an ad in the newspaper, magazine, or a television ad — giving a public service announcement on that. The recall system does work to a certain extent provided there’s enough coverage, — a prominent example of that is the Takata recall. But, there are many other recalls out there that are just as potentially hazardous that get no air-time or no newspaper time at all. Until that is rectified, the recall notification system is going to remain flawed and people will totally disregard getting their vehicles repaired.

If you, a family member, or friend have suffered a traumatic car accident injury or they were killed in an auto accident, there may be grounds for a product liability lawsuit against the car maker. The victim’s or family members of the deceased person may be entitled to significantly more money in damages than just a negligence case about the cause of the accident.
The Tracy Law Firm focuses on “Who Caused The Traumatic Car Accident Injuries or Death” — not who caused the accident.
Whether you were at fault or not in the cause of the accident, car companies are required by federal motor vehicle safety standards to make vehicles that will protect the driver and passengers from catastrophic injuries or death.
